Lancaster for four years, during which time he attended the School of Religion of Boston University, where he earned a Master of Theological Studies.

While pastoring and studying, he married his college sweetheart Janice in May,1994. As Brian studied, Janice also completed a B.S. degree in Bio-Chemistry from Atlantic Union College, and later a B.S. and M.A. in Nursing from the School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA.

Upon completion of his studies, Burgess was assigned to the Fall River and New Bedford churches in southern Connecticut, where he remained pastor for two years, before being sponsored to the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, MI, where he completed the Master of Divinity degree. Completing his seminary studies in 2003, Pastor Burgess was assigned to the N. Stanford and Bridgeport, CT Churches, where he pastored for 6 years.  Burgess and his family were under assignment to move to Massachusetts, to pastor, when the invitation reached him to become the pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Crossville.

Brian is a native of Elmira, NY and Janice was born in Guinea and lived with her pastor father and mother also on the islands of Trinadad and Granada, before coming to the US to attend Atlantic Union College. Brian and Janice have two children, Joshua and Angelina, ages 8 and 5 respectively.  Angelina became a member of their family about a year ago, when Brian and Janice went to Viet Nam to adopt her from an orphanage.  Angelina has adjusted well. She has learned English and bonded well to a "new mom, dad and brother" in about one year's time.

Pastor Brian has done extensive graduate studies, and conducts seminars in the areas of Pre-marriage and Marriage counseling, Healing and Hurt from the past, Forgiveness, Pride and Spiritualistic ties.  He is currently studying in the field of Conflict Resolution.  He will be attending a convention in Ft. Worth, Texas soon, where he will be involved in Conflict Coaching and Mediation Training, using the prepared kit materials for counseling church members, based on Biblical principles.

When asked what plans he had for the future of his work and the church in Crossville, Pastor Burgess replied "As well as take care of 'my' church, I want to become involved with the community by reaching out those people with needs, i.e. Divorce care, Grief Care, Healing Hurts, Conflict Resolution, Spiritual needs, etc., all with the purpose of helping them find God as the TRUE Source of Strength and meaning.

The Crossville Seventh-day Adventist Church welcomes Brian Burgess and his family as our new pastor.  You are invited to come and visit and become acquainted with Pastor Brian and his friendly congregation.
